Rookie Brandon Jennings turned up the energy when the Milwaukee Bucks needed it most. Jennings scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half, Hakim Warrick added 21 off the bench to help the Bucks win their home opener Saturday night, 96-85 over the Detroit Pistons. Bucks coach Scott Skiles, known to be cautious with his praise, clearly liked what Jennings did in just his second NBA game.

No Yao Ming. No Tracy McGrady. No problem for the Houston Rockets. Trevor Ariza, making the move from the Lakers this season, scored a career high 33 points, Aaron Brooks added 28 points and the Rockets held on to beat the Portland Trail Blazers at home for the fifth straight time in regular season, 111-107 Saturday night.

The Spurs' Manu Ginobili showed off his quick hands — capturing a bat. "That was amazing," teammate Tony Parker said after the San Antonio Spurs beat the Sacramento Kings 113-94 on Saturday night. "The legend continues with Manu. Unbelievable. … He's always doing crazy stuff." Late in the first period a bat swooped into the AT&T Center and descended onto the court.

The 76ers seemed ready to deliver a quick knockout in the undercard bout of a weekend chock full of Philadelphia-New York fights. Instead, it turned into a Halloween thriller. Andre Iguodala scored 32 points, including the go-ahead three-point play in overtime, and the 76ers blew a 23-point lead before beating the Knicks 141-127 on Saturday night.
